Patrick Mavros meets Elvis impersonator Matt Lewis

An intricately sculpted Peacock and Pea Hen made of sterling silver drew crowds at the Safari Club International’s annual hunter’s convention in Reno, Nevada. Even the show’s featured entertainer Matt Lewis, the world’s acclaimed best Elvis impersonator, came by the Mavros booth to take a look.

Old friends from Houston and Tanzania are among those featured in the photos here, gathered around Patrick to examine the detail in the peacock’s feathers made of silver.

Veterans from London joined to serve customers in the booth, including Adam Barkas and Romany Hamilton. Fans of long-time sales associate Jennifer Wilson-Forbes from South Africa lined up at the jewelry counter. What fun to watch them continue what’s become an annual tradition of buying silver jewelry with the aid of Jennifer’s careful eye and gentle hands.

Patrick’s son Benjamin enjoyed the many offerings for hunters, himself being a keen bow hunter in the African bush. But Patrick came home from the SCI show with the finest purchase among the Mavros men: a historically-accurate Fowler rifle handcrafted by master gunsmith Ken Shelton.
